Designed with the new chip dubbed A17 Pro which is the first Smartphone chipset to use a 3nm process, making it probably the most powerful mobile processor ever created.
The A17 Pro is made up of three main parts. First, there's the more powerful six-core processor. The two high-performance cores that are 10% faster than the A16 Bionic and the four high-efficiency cores that are three times more energy efficient.
In addition, its 16-core neural engine is twice as fast as the A16 Bionic and should send less information needed to process machine learning tasks.
Finally, there's the six-core GPU, featuring a shader architecture designed by Apple that's 20% faster than its predecessor and features such as mesh shading will allow games to create more detailed environments with less Power.
The A17 Pro integrated New GPU is also expected to handle ray-throwing at a speed four times the A16 Bionic and MetalFX Upscaling uses the GPU and Neural Engine for more efficient performance.
Apple switched to USB-C for the entire USB-C lineup. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the New USB‐C connector supports data transfer up to 10 Gbps thanks to USB 3, which Apple says should be up to 20 times faster than USB 2.
USB-C also supports charging for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but you can also use MagSafe accessories for charging. The latest Apple EarPods have also been migrated to USB-C for those who want to use a pair of Apple wired Earbuds.
